People & ideas at Deutsche Börse

Release date: 20 Feb 2025

Caroline von Linsingen has navigated various stages in her career – from Berlin to London to Frankfurt. Her journey highlights the importance of adaptability and a keen understanding of customer needs. What sets her apart is her courage to face new challenges, think outside the box, and find creative solutions.

Caroline studied economics and followed her curiosity rather than a rigid career plan. She always chose the opportunities she found most exciting – and it paid off. She believes that success depends not only on strategic planning but also on recognising opportunities and seizing them boldly.

Her career began in 2010 at the stock exchange in the field of capital market regulation. It was an exciting time: the financial world was still reeling from the aftermath of the financial crisis, the European debt crisis was causing turmoil, and there were intense discussions about the financial transaction tax. For Caroline, it was the perfect entry point – dynamic, international, and full of challenges. Early on, Caroline realised that creative ideas often emerge where different perspectives meet – an insight that guides her to this day.

After six years, she wanted to broaden her horizons and gain new experiences. London had always fascinated her – so she took the plunge. "I wanted to experience the dynamism and diversity of a global city," she says. There, she moved into business development with a focus on equity and ETF trading. The topics were new to her, but she quickly got up to speed and seized the opportunity. She developed innovative solutions for clients and worked closely with international trading participants. "It was an intense time, but that's exactly what propelled me forward."

During her time in London, Caroline started a family with two children. Balancing career and family was a challenge, especially in a city like London, where life is expensive and fast-paced. But she found her own way. Three months after the birth of her first child she returned to work and organised daily life  with a babysitter. "It wasn't always easy, but I learned to manage my time consciously and make the best of both worlds," she says. She values being there for her children and creating shared rituals despite her demanding job.

After seven years in London, Caroline returned to Germany to head up the  „Börsenplatz”. Since then, her role has been to give the German capital market a distinctive profile, giving listed companies and issuers the opportunity to present their equity story or products to a broad public and potential investors. In particular, the bell ringings, where companies and trading participants symbolically open or close trading, have become an integral part of this. "It is important for Deutsche Börse to offer companies a platform that strengthens trust in them and at the same time contributes to the attractiveness of the financial market," says Caroline. At the same time, she has expanded the range of services offered at the Deutsche Börse Visitors Centre to further develop Deutsche Börse's financial education initiatives and to give the general public access to capital market-related topics. Since 2025, she also leads Deutsche Börse's IPO team with the aim of increasing the attractiveness of Frankfurt as a financial centre and attracting national and international companies to list in Germany.

The various stages of her career have given her comprehensive knowledge of regulation, trading, and capital markets. In Berlin, the focus was on regulation; in London, she learned about trading mechanisms; and in Frankfurt, she focuses on guiding companies on their way to the stock exchange. "Each city has shaped me in its own way – both professionally and personally," she says.

Besides her career, it is particularly important to her to spend time with her family. She makes sure to structure her day so that she can be there for both her job and her children. Despite her busy schedule, she consciously takes time for the important moments in life.
